$48 Million Restoration Project Unveiled at VIP Event

The QVB will celebrate in spectacular style on August 25th triumphantly completing a $48 million upgrade which is the result of six years of careful planning and implementation.

Described by Pierre Cardin as "The most beautiful shopping centre in the world", the QVB will play host to VIPs invited to celebrate the stunning outcome of this historic renovation project that has strived to reflect the building's original design, whilst maintaining commercial and shopper realities of the 21st century.

The function coincides with the centre's launch of its Spring/Summer rebranding communications campaign which is poised to reflect the QVB's unique offering and to reposition the QVB as a contemporary, premium and iconic brand, building a platform around the total retailer offer.

Leo Schofield, arts director and restaurant critic, will act as Master Of Ceremonies with Clover Moore MP, Lord Mayor of Sydney, addressing guests during the evening and officially unveiling a commemorative plaque to mark the completion of the works.

Victor Gaspar, Group General Manager of Ipoh commented "We're thrilled that the renovation is complete and we can continue to share this remarkable building with the people of Sydney. The transformation marks another milestone in the rich history of the QVB, ensuring this wonderful building maintains its place serving the people of Sydney for another century."

Guests will enjoy French champagne with sumptuous canapes served by The Tea Room. Award winning florists Pearson's are overseeing floral arrangements with even the bathrooms being treated to the VIP treatment thanks to Molton Brown.

The event will mark a new direction for the centre which is looking to enjoy the benefits of a variety of upgraded elements such as improved lighting features, vertical transportation and finishes. The work undertaken has also allowed the centre to honour its history more honestly, evident in the new heritage colour palette and the frameless glass shop fronts which have highlighted the building's original features.

The event will take place on August 25th from 6.30pm. Entry is by invitation only.
