The Galeries was opened in August 2000, just prior to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
In April 2004, a leasing remix commenced to lift the rental and trading levels of the Centre via strict control of usage and location strategies. The Centre reached 100% occupancy in 2007 and has continued to maintain this.
Reconfiguration works were undertaken in 2009 to close the stairs which connected George Street to Lower Ground floor thus creating additional leasable area. Workshop Espresso took over the tenancy created on George Street adding movement and vitality to what was a previously lacklustre section of George Street. The Lower Ground floor tenancies were reconfigured, utilising the additional space created by the stair closure and adding additional fashion and services to the retail mix.
Key retailers include Books Kinokuniya, Incu, Carhartt, Graniph, Nu + Nan, Alphaville, Mooks, Superdry, Wagamama, Brent Wilson and JB Hi-Fi.
