History

Australia Post, together with the National Trust, the Heritage Council joined with Grocon in 1997 to undertake a redevelopment of the former General Post Office site whilst maintaining the heritage value of this significant asset.

The building was re-opened in 1999 as a mixed-use development with a retail, hotel and commercial office complex. Ausco Martin purchased the retail and hotel components of No. 1 Martin Place in May 2002.
